How terribly frustrating and annoying!

Maybe he wants Birdy to come out and play!

HAWHAWHAW

This Birdy's not coming out to play - she's a nightingale.

And that cardinal better let me sleep in.

Knitwit-- I am so sorry hear about all the flooding and damage.I hope everything will be navigable soon, and that your son is doing well. It is a blessing that there are no casualties.

Birdy--Have you thought about a big picture of a hungry cat? I'm not joking. Okay. Maybe I'm joking a little, but it's worth a try!

Thanks, SueSue. He's had friends come over and get the mess cleared away for him, that's been the most frustrating part, that he can't do it for himself. But I think this has been a real "lightbulb" moment for him, seeing so many friends pitch in to help. Clear skies today, then back to rain on Thursday.

Miss Birdy, I found the funniest video clip, but it's privately owned (?) and I couldn't link it here. How about a photo or two of cats, like S2 said, and then hanging a dark blanket or other covering over the window so there's no glare???

I'm not mistaken, am I? It is May 18th is it not? Feels more like February 18th here today. Temps in the 50s, with rain, cold winds, dank air that make it feel much colder -- normally I don't mind such weather, but I do mind it when it comes at the wrong time. It feels like we are out of sequence.

And the weatherman tells us it will go into the 80s later in the week. What's going on?

Birdy, what about an owl decoy near your glass panes? They are very common here in NYC to keep pigeons of balconies, and to keep the smaller birds from nesting in gutters. Do you have owls in your area? Would the cardinal recognize it as a predator?

We have a growing cardinal family in my neighborhood -- they are exceptionally large, bright and vocal. I've noticed that this year's robins are also really large. (Hope they aren't mutant songbirds conspiring to take over the Earth! But it would make a cool movie.)

Too true!
We could call it We Are the Worms . . . or, maybe, just: Beaks!

I've seen more doves this spring than I usually do, and the monarch butterflies are coming around. But the robins I've seen are plumper than normal. Maybe the robins had too much bed rest.

Reminds me of an old song from... (oh I shudder to admit it, ha) Dr. Demento. :)

PS: Neighbor Nancy... sorry to hear about all the mess out your way.. I think your town (and a few others) got the worst of it in our area last week. We got a lot of rain and SOME wind with that bunch of storms... but not like you folks got.

Things have been a bit soggy around this part of the world lately. And now, more rain today.. blah. My golly it has been a cold wet month!! Is it May or MARCH?? I forget.

But every now and then.. it HAS been nice to see the sun (like yesterday) if only to help us remember what it LOOKS like, ha.

Nancy,
Hope this post finds Kansas drying out and doing well...

You wouldn't think I would need a picture of a big, hungry cat to scare the cardinal
since there is an ACTUAL big, hungry cat in the window. I don't know if the cardinal can see the cats, though, through the glare of the double pane windows. Apparently she just sees herself.
I'll keep trying.

Well, in southeast Texas, it will feel like August now until around the first of October.
Hurricanes, get thee behind me. We had enough with Ike and the like ...

Yikes, the annual season of flashlight batteries, caches of bottled water, canned beans, and gasoline generators
is upon us.

(I found a very nice windup torch at Bass Pro Shops.)

And in Kansas....the dog stroller(to get both dogs to the shelter, and keep them from killing all the other dogs...) the bottled water, the flashlights and the "go" bag are all packed and waiting.... UGH  and double yikes!

Hey, Ms. Birdy, did you have severe storms last night? We had a 30% chance, but they passed us by. Hope you are ok!

Thanks for asking, it skipped around us but I'm sure you saw there was quite a bit of damage in some parts of Illinois. We lucked out again and are keeping our fingers crossed! More storms to come.
