John Ford Films rejoice. John Ford: The Columbia Films Collection has just been released thanks to the TCM Vault Collection’s ongoing collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Film Foundation. The following titles, along with an Introduction by Ben Mankiewicz, audio commentaries by Leonard Maltin, and many publicity and behind the scenes pictures, as well as movie poster images and more are included:

The Whole Town's Talking (1935)
The Long Gray Line (1955)
Gideon's Day (1958)
The Last Hurrah (1958)

Mine's in the mail. Wish it was here already!

Twilight Time will be releasing a Blu-ray of Two Rode Together in 2014. I'd sure love to see a Blu-ray of The Long Gray Line too.

UPDATE: Oh, er, it arrived a couple of days ago! But I have been knocked down by a truly nasty cold this past week and didn't notice it there in the mail. Hopefully I'll get time to investigate it this weekend.

THE QUIET MAN (1952) has been included in the Library of Congress' 2013 National Film Registry. John Ford now has nine titles on the list, more than any other director. :D

Where's the photo? All I see is Liberty Valance holding up the Shinbone Star. Guess they needed a good proofreader... :D

Goddess, you're gorgeous! Some lovely faces come to mind, for starters: Virginia Grey, Ann Todd...

Grimes should see this -- he'd go bonkers, lol! :D :D :D :D :D
