It's a real problem here upstate with Pileated Woodpeckers. If you live in rural areas, you fold your car mirrors when parked. If they don't fold in, they are covered in plastic bags.

I tell them it's a telephone and they don't believe me. So I have them call my number. It rasps instead of "rings" and they have no idea how to pick up the receiver. But they're always intrigued at how heavy it is & to hear a voice talking to them through it.

There is a scene in: Bernard and the Genie (1991) which is quite precious. Bernard is calling his home in hopes that the Genie will come to rescue him. The Genie has been in his lamp for approx. two thousand years and so does not know why the lump on the desk is ringing. The Genie discovers by accident that dislodging the receiver stops the ringing. Lenny Henry plays it perfectly!

That phone predates the 1960s, even the 1950s, that is an old, old phone. I grew up in the 50s (even late 40s) and never saw the likes of that thing.

It is: Багта-50 manufactured in: 1955. They were in use well into the 1970s.
