Nah, he was just a well read guy (at least that's what I like to think). He was born in NYC as you can probably tell by the way he talked out of the side of his mouth all the time. I tend to collect pictures of actors reading. This was one I picked out for the "avatar du semaine" since I've been grooving on Chet's bemused bad boy lately on Saturday mornings when those Boston Blackie movies have been shown on TCM.

I honestly couldn't picture him in Duluth. :D

I've been really happy to see him in the BB series lately too. He and Georgie Stone have always delighted me.

Doesn't matter, Doris Day is timeless!

One of my favorite Doris numbers!

Doris performed this number in My Dream Is Yours... you can see the clip at TCM: http://www.tcm.com/mediaroom/video/4838 ... apers.html

This was Doris' second movie and the first tailored to her unique effervescent and sparkling screen presence -- a presence that was instantly obvious when she replaced Betty Hutton in her (Day's) first movie, Romance on the High Seas. Hutton had to drop out when she became pregnant.

Yikes!!!

Jan Sterling better not breathe - or there'll be much more of her to see in that picture!!!
She does look good though - very Marlene Dietrich....
