Lest we forget "The New York Dolls," The Sex Pistols," "Blondie," and "The Pretenders?" Not to mention "The Clash," "Naked Aggression," and "The Outcasts?" and too many more to mention?

p.s. I'm showing my age, but I believe the first true heavy metal group was "Cream." And a radical departure from the mainstream they were.
