The case of grandma and the disappearing cat in Renoir's A Day in the Country.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): The oldest member of the family is Grandmother (Gabrielle Fontan) and when the family ventures out to find a picnic spot she sees a small tabby and white kitten running in the grass. She calls to the kitten and then scoops it up, hugging it tightly. Having chosen a spot beneath a cherry tree for their picnic, the family help Grandma into a chair brought out for her. She continues to hold the kitten on her lap through the picnic.
Eventually the kitten jumps off the woman’s lap and the grandmother gets up and chases after it. Neither character is seen again.

The 2023 edition of the CatVideoFest will be in theaters next month--I've never been but apparently it's a very popular event at AFI Silver.
