I has a very bucolic, almost Irish/Celtic feel to it. Obviously, this one is going to take some well-thought-out clue giving.

Put little nickel in...

Post by Moraldo Rubini »

It's taken me months to be able to get the sound files from this thread to play on my computer, but I finally got it today. Yippee! I have a guess, but I'm unsure because of your clue that the composer "wrote the scores for 3 other films"... or maybe you didn't intend the comma, and the clue should read "wrote the scores for 3 other films starring the same leading lady who stars in this film"? Anyway, I'll hazard the guess:

Henry Mancini's Wait Until Dark.

I think Mancini only did two other scores for Hepburn movies though. So I'll be waiting in suspense for the answer.

Torture

Post by Moraldo Rubini »

Okay, I just spent a tortured night because of this song. I knew the melody immediately, but could not think of its name or from whence it came. In the middle of the night, I woke up singing it. I heard Barbra Streisand's voice. I wondered if I should write down the lyrics, but it was so vivid I assured myself that I would remember in them morning. The phone woke me up at 3:55 am (wrong number!), an earthquake woke me up an hour later. By the time my alarm woke me again at 6am, the melody was flowing, but I'd lost the words again.

Finally, I think I have it. Yes, Barbra Streisand sang it on her The Way We Were album (not the soundtrack of the same name). "Summer Me Winter Me" by Michel LeGrand. I believe it came from a movie called Picasso Summer, which I've never had the opportunity to see. But it's about a couple from San Francisco who go to France... Yvette Mimieux or Tuesday Weld was in it, yes?

Happy to see you using your expertise on John's SECRET SCORE thread, Moraldo. Charlie T hangs out here, too, sometimes. It's a challenge, but I love it!

Thanks for keeping it going, John!
