Well, it starts out like Smetana's The Moldau, but it has a Hank Mancini feel to it.
Mommie Dearest began with a theme like that, so that's my guess....

I'd say it's time for a new clue. The very last chord is ominous, following a theme that is not... And perhaps that's a clue? From your description, I'll toss in The Group, though that was mainstream. But I'll toss it in just to get another clue.

I was finally able to access your putfile. For some reason, I have trouble on occassion getting the file to run on my laptop. All I get is a small box with a red X in it.

Nevertheless, the mystery score is the main title theme from The Summer of '42 by Michel LeGrand.
