What is Your All - Time Favorite TV Series

Post by ken123 »

In any genre, but please do not include Talk Shows. The series can be of any Era also, but only national TV series, not local shows.Local shows can have a thread of their own.

Fave TV programs

Post by Sue Sue Applegate »

Here I go:

Classic Series:
The Andy Griffith Show (I had several Aunt Bees.)
The Dick Van Dyke Show (Sally inspired my aspirations to be a female in the business of writing comedy, or otherwise.)
I Love Lucy
The Roy Rogers Show
(I went to my first rodeo at 3.)
Liberace ( If I ever wanted a cookie, I was forced to practice and perform on the 88's, but I started out on a little piano that had the 22's. Watching Liberace taught me to arpeggiate and use a fake book.)
Combat (Vic Morrow fan)
Burke's Law (My favorite episode is when his mom solved the crime by realizing the murdered woman worked as a carhop because there was mustard on her nails.)
Jack Benny
The Untouchables
Dean Martin Show (Everybody....)
Every Bob Hope Special ever made.(But, seriously folks, I wanna tellya...)
Green Acres(Dahlink, zah pancakes don't cookst good in zah tostah)
Petticoat Junction( I was a bookish Bobby Joe, wanted to be Billie Joe or Betty Joe)
The Beverly Hillbillies (Sometimes too close to home!)
Baretta
Car 54 Where are You?
The Addams Family
The Munsters
The Flintstones
Ed Sullivan
Jackie Gleason
Cheyenne
Sugarfoot
Maverick
Wagon Train
Bat Masterson
The Virginian
Bonanza
Laramie

On the Cusp:
Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
The Bob Newhart Show
(Chicago and Vermont)

Current:
LA Law
Cheers
Law and Order
360 with Anderson Cooper
60 Minutes
The Simpsons
King of the Hill
Scrubs
Biography Channel
Telenovelas in Spanish
Sabado Gigante
( Don't have much time to watch lately unless it's after 8 p.m.)

* Most favored at the time are in boldface.

Addendum, Addendum, I must have my Addendum...

Post by Sue Sue Applegate »

Me, too.
Forgot to list some you've cited like Alfred Hitchcock, plus:

The Rifleman (Saw almost all during initial runs or early repeats, and can't believe I forgot one of my faves of all time!)
The Twilight Zone (My fave: Anne Francis as country girl to goes to the witchy woman in the woods.)

The Fugitive(I also have the last three episodes on video.)
Route 66 (I got my kicks! Oh, Cookie, can I hold your comb?)

I don't watch that many regulars, either.

Overlooked faves...

Post by Sue Sue Applegate »

Currently, we do watch Jon Stewart and the Colbert Repor (t)!

And we have most MASH episodes on DVD. My son, who is 15, is a big
MASH fan.

I really miss Hill Street Blues, but was happy Dennis Franz went on to bigger and better choices for himself.

And there was a time there I watched Barnaby Jones in reruns...
(Yikes, please don't tell anybody!)

About a week ago a poster on a liberal political thread ( I don't remember which one ) was mad at Colbert. The poster actually thought Colbert was a conservative.

Kind of like War of the Worlds, but with Bob Hope at the helm.

It's so great to post a smiley and not be anxious about the repercussions!

Currently I only watch "House" and "Law and Order" (mostly the original).

Classic Series:

Dick Van Dyke
Bob Newhart (both)
Mary Tyler Moore
Jack Benny (Good luck ever being able to see any again.)

For the record, I hated "Friends" and never "got" "Seinfeld." I understand I'm in the minority but George just dorve me up a wall.

All your classic choices are good. I've bought the seasons of "The Bob Newhart Show" that have come out on DVD.

"Friends" was just horrible. "Seinfeld" was funny but not a great IMO. And yes, George drove everyone up the wall. He's like Don Knotts as Barney Fife -- some people think he's funny, some think he's incredibly annoying.
