Googie Withers has died

Post by stuart.uk »

British actress Googie Withers has died at age 94. I don't pretend to known much about her film career, but remember her as the still attractive middle-aged prison govenor in the UK drama serial Within These Walls in the 1970s. I also remember her early in her career as leading lady to the iconic comedy actor Arthur Askey in the war time propagada movie Back Room Boy

Hi Stuart:
I have only recently discovered how good Googie Withers was in her '40s movies, particularly those made with director Robert Hamer and her husband, John McCallum. You can see more here, including pictures and an obituary. She was really neat (yeah, I'm a fan, albeit a recently minted one) and it was inspiring to see how long she continued to make her contributions to the world of film, theater and television.
