I think one of the worst done goat gland films I've seen was West of the Rockies, starring Ben Lyon.

Goat gland films technically do not count as Silents so this thread shouldn’t be in this section. As for favorite goat glands, I saw “The Divine Lady” on Monday and thought it was a decent movie though heavy on the pro-Britain propaganda (really sanitizes British imperial interests of the 1800s and depicts the French as a bunch of crazy anti-monarchists). The entire film is vitaphone without dialogue except a rendition of Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond played by Lady Hamilton which shows up occasionally throughout the film. Overall, a decent early sound flick.

Goat glands were used in an old time medical procedure to relieve the prostate and erectile dysfunction. The more you know…

This month’s theme may have been goat gland films as next week’s silent is also a goat gland. Don Juan (1926) - a loose adaptation of the Moliere play with synchronized sound from Vitaphone.

Tonight’s silent Sunday is actually a talkie movie. It’s the Mysterious Island from 1929. It has talking scenes with Lionel Barrymore and a recorded soundtrack and sound effects. I always loved Lionel Barrymore. He has a fun, grandfatherly demeanor to him. Very good actor.
