The Silver Screen Oasis

Zhang Yimou's masterpeice is being released once again. The previous DVD was a disaster with bad tinting, scratches, and grainy film. The previous Orion VHS release was it's superior in every way.

Will this new version be the one we are hoping for? I'll let you know after I get it!

This is such a visually gorgeous movie, it deserves only the best transfer to DVD. Gong Li was one of my favorite actresses of the 1990's, and she's splendid in this colorful tale. I've only seen the movie on the big screen and after reading your note on the first DVD release am relieved that I missed it. I look forward to your upcoming review...
