Getting things off to a "cool" start - (for my wife)
The Hollies with "Long Cool Woman"
And a different kind of cool - Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "From The Beginning."
One of my favorite groups for 40 years - The Moody Blues - "I Know You're Out There Somewhere."

movieman, your wife has impeccable taste.
However, I don't.
Where No Man Has Gone Before
William Shatner -- Rocketman
Leonard Nimoy -- The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
Shatner -- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

I actually remember watching that performance by Nimoy & "the girls" back in '68, on a horrifically faux-groovy variety show called Malibu U, or something like that.
I can honestly tell you that the 39.5 year span since then has done nothing to help improve my opinion of it!
But - everything else at the party's rocked solid!
P.S: Thanks much, Dewey & Ben, for those Robbie Nevil links!

Here's a little Jazz for Saturday:
Charlie Parker. Effortless playing and the man used a Rico 5 reed which most players can't even get to vibrate because they are so stiff!
Miles Davis Second Quintet. Every player in this group is a legend.
Speaking of Miles and since this is a movie forum, here's the trailer to his stunning work on the 1957 Noir, Elevator to the Gallows.
When Michael Brecker died last year we lost probably the most prominent sax player since Coltrane. I was fortunate to see him in 2005 with Herbie Hancock. A gifted man for sure. Here he is with brother Randy with stunning opening by guitarist Mike Stern.
Finally, what Jazz combo would be complete without a little drumming? Here's the late great Buddy Rich taking on Animal from the Muppet Show!

Spectacular, Mr. Ark! Thanks for the classy adds to the Record Party! And now, here's something special to brighten up your early Monday morning hours...
The incomprable JUDY GARLAND doing "The Trolley Song" in a 1962 clip from her great television program...
Gene Kelly and Donald O"Connor and "Moses Supposes" -- one of my favorite numbers from SINGIN' IN THE RAIN...
And last but by no means least, the coup de grace--real-life sisters Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Dorleac (not their actual voices) in a clip from the ultra-phenomenal 1967 French musical THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT...
These make me glad I live on the Planet Earth! Vive le Record Party!
