Lomm wrote: December 16th, 2022, 3:16 pm I have never seen any such glitch or any porn posted to this site. I'm not sure what link they're following but if you go to http://silverscreenoasis.com/ it works just fine, as does http://silverscreenoasis.com/oasis3/ (they are the same page). I visit this site multiple times a day from different devices and have never seen this happen. I don't know what this link at the TCM forums or wherever it is that was posted is, but I'd suggest making your own bookmark from this site, after you get here, rather than following a link shared elsewhere.
It hasn't happened to me, either. The link I have bookmarked that I use every day is the latter of the two you mentioned, the "/oasis3/" one.

Might it be some sort of weird glitch based on the browser or OS used? I'm on a Windows 11 machine using Chrome.
Watching until the end.

I checked myself to see if I could find what they meant, but all of the links I clicked just led here. I asked the person (named "Newbie") to post where this supposed dirty link is.

Right now the whole thing seems kind of shady, but glitches have been known to occur, so I'll reserve judgment until someone clarifies.
I have some insight on this problem. One strong possibility is the user is infected by malware, which is causing redirects to obscene websites when they click links or search.

Another possibility takes advantage of a typical way that older people use to browse the internet. A user wants to visit a page, so they search for it using Bing, Google etc. Some of the results are actually bad websites which can display pornography or trick users into downloading malware.

I just tried searching for Silver Screen Oasis from Bing and I got a problem link which mimicked a Microsoft page with multiple security warnings me that I had a virus and urged me to call a phone number (fake toll free). I know better, so I closed out.

I can't replicate my work now, so I don't know how far down the list of search results it was or what the site was.

This is the prompt I got:

My own parents used to browse in this way for their financial websites before I warned them from doing that. I set up shortcuts and showed them how to use them to login. My elderly father got snared one day browsing the web with an iPad and was on the phone with them when they asked for his credit card. I was nearby and managed to yell at him to hang up. Then I made him cancel the credit card he was in the middle of giving out.

Well, one thing about this new board, on the rare occasions that the name Ione Skye comes up, we won't ever have to worry about her first name being censored by Otto the auto-censor.

I considered the possibility of a viral infection on my computer, which is an Apple laptop. I used security software to scan my computer for viruses, and the result was zilch.

I always access the SSO via the bookmark in my Firefox browser, and not via a search engine.

Being directed to another Website instead of the SSO does not always happen. During the past two days, it occurred once each day -- the first time that I tried to access the SSO. Thereafter when I click my bookmark, the SSO appears.

Another possibility could be false DNS resolution from your local service provider. The default settings are often to use the local service provider for DNS resolution. Sometimes I get sketchy websites if in that mode. Then there is Cloudflare.

It happened to me three times over the last week or so. I use a MacBook, and Safari. It's never happened to me before. I was using the link provided on that TCM post. I've since deleted that link.

The case I tested yesterday, I went looking for trouble and just clicked links without looking.

Apart from that, the most recent cases of links from other websites (not SSO) being hijacked for me occurred on my iPhone and iPad. I'm old school and prefer using a computer to do my web browsing. I use mostly use Chrome and Firefox.

It just happened again. I clicked on my bookmarked page for this site, and I was taken to a porn site. In addition to the graphic images, the banner said:

Locate ____ _____ in your area.

Does the site have any film reviews, or do they just argue about politics?

I don't stay long enough to notice. I'm not even sure it's the same porn site each time. If you must know, the two blanks in my quote represent the words "horny women." So the banner this time was "Locate horny women in your area."

I just don't get it. As I said, I've been here for ages and that has NEVER happened to me. Checking with some other long timers, the same story. If there was something I could do or look into that might explain it, I would...but it seems to only be some people, and very few (two?). Baffling.
