That was my hotel in the beginning— Hotel Maison de Ville and the Audubon Cottages. Legend has it he lived in Cottage #1 and had his studio in Cottage #7, #1 and #7 share a private courtyard. They still rent out from what I can glean, the Audubon Cottages, there is a grand total of seven Cottages, surrounding the first swimming pool ever constructed in the French Quarter. Lots of Audubon prints on the walls. Oh yeah man, don’t stay at hotels anymore if you can help it. Since Covid, hotels have capitalized on the non contact theme. In layman’s terms that means no service. It’s $47.99 plus tax a night for parking, but you have to park your own car. Don’t like that arrangement park somewhere else good luck to you. Service is a thing of the past - you pay for your room now up front and there are no refunds. And there is no breakfast, Covid blessed Hoteliers with the excuse for cutting that huge expense out, and I don’t think you get maid service anymore either — so hotels now offer no services whatsoever. You park your own car, tote your own bags, then text somebody when your toilet is backed up and leaking on the floor. There is nobody at the front desk to complain to because it’s a non-contact hotel.

One more thing I want to add to this rant — and this is the truth — these nowadays managers of hotels do not read any guest comments or reviews. They don’t care. A manager said to me that it has nothing to do with the bottom line and it’s a waste of time.
