Best And Worst Fathers In Film

Post by Detective Jim McLeod »

Happy Father's Day. Who do you think was the best and worst father in a film? This is what I think-

BEST

Gregory Peck in To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)

WORST

John Huston in Chinatown (1974)

Too many choices to make, but you could get a "best" and "worst" from the same movie.

Gregory Peck in To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) for "best"

And......
James Anderson(Bob Ewell) in To Kill A Mockingbird(1962) for "worst"

;)

Best: Fredric March in 'The Best Years of Our Lives' (...and presenting a good father, foibles and all, and without the role being idealized in any way)

Worst: James Coburn in 'Affliction' (...as mean and ornery as you'll ever see a father being depicted)

(...and both coincidentally being Academy Award winners for their performances)

As Homer Simpson put it :

"God? He's always happy......no, wait....He's always mad!"
