AI has been around forever. "If you like Casablanca, you might like ..."
TCM needs to go there.

Desk Set is closing in fast! I'm surprised Dr. Zhivago has dropped out of the top spots.cmovieviewer wrote: ↑April 16th, 2024, 12:44 pm The current reigning champions for most showings on TCM (as of March 2024):

As of last March, the last time that MovieCollectorOH updated his database, Desk Set had been seen 27 times, and Zhivago was at 111. That was 13 months ago, so expect both figures to have gone up.Hibi wrote: ↑April 16th, 2024, 2:57 pmDesk Set is closing in fast! Wow. I'm amazed they are that low. They seem to go in cycles then switch to something else to beat us over the head with.

The channel itself seems to take advantage of windows of opportunities. I recall that in the early 2010s, they kept premiering all sorts of 20th Century Fox films, some only once, but others they repeated a lot within a small period. Prime of Miss Jean Brodie was one of those frequent repeaters, but it hasn't turned up since then.

DR ZHIVAGO --- if enough people say it backwards maybe it can be zapped to the fifth dimension.Hibi wrote: ↑April 16th, 2024, 2:57 pmDesk Set is closing in fast! The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) was shown a total of 5 times in 2013 and 2014. TCM did show it again in March of 2023 for 31 Days of Oscar.CinemaInternational wrote: ↑April 16th, 2024, 3:13 pm The channel itself seems to take advantage of windows of opportunities. When the streaming services were getting established, many of the providers kept their titles to themselves for exclusivity. Now that the bottom line is more important, it appears they've started leasing them out again. TCM's budget is certainly another factor for the out-of-house films.

Yep. The leasing window closed...or the amount of times they were allowed to show it.CinemaInternational wrote: ↑April 16th, 2024, 3:13 pmThe channel itself seems to take advantage of windows of opportunities.
