The High Window

Post by MikeBSG »

Has anyone seen this film, based on a Raymond Chandler novel and directed by John Brahm?

If so, what did you think?

Hi Mike - I saw it years ago (under its release title "The Brasher Dubloon") and was very disappointed. George Montgomery makes a pretty pallid Philip Marlowe and the film's pace is sluggish despite its relatively brief running time. For completists only!

The movie isn't horrible, but Dewey's right about the film's sluggishness.

It's worth a look, but don't expect a classic.

Interestingly, it's based on one of the best of the Marlowe books.
