Re: What Horror and Sc-Fi films have you seen lately?
Well, it only took 19 months, but I finally finished the first season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire . And, although that season only takes one about halfway through Anne Rice's original novel, I find it better than both its source novel and its 1994 cinematic predecessor. In my opinion, using...

Well it's certainly full of sound and fury... But I wouldn't say signifying nothing. (Yes, I know that part is from Shakespeare not Faulkner.) The sweetie and I watched it on Watch TCM with an introduction by Martin Scorsese. We enjoyed it, especially the ending. We did think that the movie poster ...

[quote=Hibi post_id=200675 time=1716226502 user_id=849 The early 70s was not a good period for movies. As the 70s progressed it got better. See, i feel the exact opposite- as someone who has come late to viewing films of the 70s, the early 70s and especially 1971 have a lot of interesting and fasci...

LAND OF THE PHAROAHS -- I guess every great director is entitled to make at least one bad picture in their career. "Bring the snake in a strong basket" "The gods of Egypt have spoken!" I still love the ending though. So deliciously ironic. William Faulkner worked on the script! ...

Gene Hackman is great in everything! I love Gene Hackman, one of my very favorite actors. He is brilliant in drama and comedy, great, great actor. Gene Hackman is one of those actors who truly creates the illusion that he's not acting, whether he's playing an "ordinary" person or a flambo...

My introduction to daytime soaps was the ABC soaps. The woman that my sister & I stayed with after school recorded all of the ABC soaps. The one my sister and I liked the best was ALL MY CHILDREN. We didn't really care for GENERAL HOSPITAL. Our aunt (my mother's sister) later introduced us to D...

Yes, Alma is back as a Spanish name, pronounced "Ahlma." The name from the past was "you can call me Al-ma." What movie character was named Alma? I seem to remember one. Geraldine Page's character in SUMMER AND SMOKE was named Alma. There's even a line where Alma says that her n...

I did, Holden! Much racier of course. And I agree about Oliver. But there is nobody to equal Lotte Lenya as the predatory Countess/pimp. Man, that is a performance! I agree with you about Lotte Lenya in that role in THE ROMAN SPRING OF MRS. STONE. In the version with Helen Mirren and Oliver Martine...

Besides Roman also Bo or Hope Brady? I was done watching Days by the end of the '80s, I watched Days from the very beginning, also Another World Please, God tell me she’s not named “Calliope”… It wasn't Calliope. But my cousin was named after one of the Bradys. My cousin was born in 1988 by the way...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
To be honest, THE ROMAN SPRING OF MRS. STONE is one of the most depressing movies you'll ever see, and Warren Beatty's attempt at an Italian accent is atrocious. (much worse than George Hamilton's from LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA). On the plus side, Vivien Leigh's chic Eternal City apartment is to die for....
