Movie watched.

Watched last night; 'Eye of the Needle' ( I'll guess, a lot of others did too - It was on primetime ). Lots of action and suspense. I'm not great on reviews but will say that it held my interest for two hours. Don't know where it was made, the scenery and photography were very good............mel

Christmas

Hi, Chris.
Dicken's 'Christmas Carol'. The one I liked best was the cartoon with Mr. Magoo. Next, the one with Reginald Owen and Gene Lockhart. When I picture Santa, he looks like Edmund Gwenn. Monty Wooley would look the part, also. Good topic....Mel

Hi, Mongo. Just want to say that I enjoy your spotlight writeups very much. I just read the one about Bolger, a very likeable actor and dancer. I think he was made of rubber. Haven't seen it for a while but I still remember 'Where's Charlie' with Ray and I think her name was McClery, something like ...

Right on, Bkln, that's who I am.
Irene Handl was born in London on the same day as Marlene Dietrich who was born in or near Berlin.
In her sixties she wrote 2 best sellers, 'The Sioux' and 'Gold Tip Phitzer'.
Her film count is 148.
Good for you.......mel

Mystery Guest

Sorry Bkln. I thought if i picked an unusual one it would stir up more interest. Here's some more info: The American Star with whom I share the birthday was born either in Berlin or in a Berlin suburb. My father was an Austrian banker; my mother was French. My last name has an unusual spelling for E...

Barbara Flynn

6145.2 in reply to 6145.1 here's a post from another site that I'd like to repeat here: Your post about Barbara Flynn put me in mind of a program I saw a while back that I'd like to see again. I don' t know whether it was a movie. It might've been on a PBS channel, one of those programs that are sho...

misuse of words

What bothers me ( I know, I'm finicky ) is using nouns as verbs, EX: 'Party'.
Another one, the misuse of words as 'reiterate' when iterate is meant, I suppose, most of us do it and it's, probably, inevitable but it can be very irksome......mel

Dubbing

You've got my vote, Hollis.. I don't mind dubbing, half the time, I don't know it's being dubbed and reading subtitles is a pain. We don't watch foreign language movies and very few silents, only Keaton, Chaplin types. I understand how foreign films would be enjoyable, if one speaks the language but...

Hi, Bkln. ... We 've a misunderstanding, here. I didn't say that about Vera - Ellen. I was replying to John, who posted that. I realize I didn't do that correctly, I've still got a lot to learn about this business of posting. I repeated what John said and then commented on it. For the record, I don'...

Hi, Anne. I'm sorry that I confused you. I know, I'm not very circumspect with my grammar but being more so would be too difficult for me. I write the way I talk. I'm not erudite. As for posting, that's my idea of what a forum is all about, and why I joined. I love to express my opinion and hear oth...
