I'm loving the Doris pics too, mongo, thanks for posting them!
Hey, that's Roger Price's book that Doris and James Garner are looking at! I haven't seen The Thrill of it All yet, or at least not all of it, so I don't know the tie in, but Price wrote some wonderful books in the 1960's, including one called Droodles which gave us endless entertainment when we were kids. He also invented Mad Libs, with Leonard Stern. Here is a sampling of some droodles:
