Spirits of the Dead (1969)

I've no time to wax poetic about a great film--besides this isn't one. However, the multi-narrative Spirits of the Dead (showing early morning 10/31) deserves mention for one third of its content.

This film contains three separate stories (based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe) shot by three different European directors. My advice; Skip the first two features and record Toby Dammit. Directed by Federico Fellini, this startling and disturbing work is his only foray into the horror genre, but it also contains many of the unique visual touches that grace his full length projects (his The Temptation of Dr. Antonio was also the highlight of the similar Boccaccio '70 [1962]). A nice little toss off from a master that works better than many of the bigger budget scares made today.
