Maybe that is why I liked the "still weak and blind"
part of her performance so much... her eyes were still covered by the
bandages....HA.

 I liked her best in those scenes!

I like Maria Schell and I think it's more a question of style.....her style does not jibe with, say, Glenn Ford's in Cimarron. Maybe Hollywood did not really know what to do with her. She always seems out of her element, because... well she IS out of her element, so usually that is what is called for in her movies. I like her tremendously in The Magic Box, because she is cast well, and seems more comfortable. I wonder what would have happened had she been cast in thrillers, like Torn Curtain or something more European? I just noticed that she does what she can with what she is given, and I find her very moving at times....

Can I jump in? I always felt I was looking at someone terribly frightened by life when I watched Maria Schell. Her eyes were always so full of anguish, you almost had to look away.
