Re: I Just Watched...

Next time he took me to see Phantom Of The Opera. I hated it but marveled at the sets & costumes at least. I realized he enjoyed more Disney World Cruise kind of entertainment, nothing wrong with that, just not my taste. I also don't care for The Phantom of the Opera . I think it appeals to a m...

Re: I Just Watched...

I saw a production of Gypsy in London a few years ago, starring Imelda Staunton. It was good, but they only used the Robbins choreography in the "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" number. I would have loved to have seen Imelda Staunton as Rose in the West End production Gypsy . I have the recordin...

Re: I Just Watched...

I miss movie theatres as well, but on my few times there in recent years, there were so few people there. The very last time I was there (in September), I nearly fell over when I found out that the price for a matinee ticket was $9. Having big audiences, which I remember from going to see kids film...

Re: I Just Watched...

One thing I miss a lot about YE OLDE MESSAGEBOARDES were the genuinely insane people i got to witness at a safe distance, like THE MARIE OSMOND F...

Re: I Just Watched...

Since Lorna and Tiki have made a go of it telling personal stories of their movie journeys, I guess I might as well join in. My name is Brendan. I was born in 1995, which means that I am pretty close to being the baby of the board (I think NickandNora and LostHorizons are both a year younger). I ca...

Re: January 2024 Schedule Posted, Robert Mitchum is SOTM

They've updated the schedule. Premieres of The Big Lebowski, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Punch Drunk Love among others. Those seem a bit ....recent.... Except for The Big Lebowski (1998), all the other movies listed above are part of TCM's Columbia Pictures 100th Anniversary spotlight airing ...

I hope the version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon that airs in the one in Standard Chinese with English subtitles rather than the English-dubbed version.

Re: I Just Watched...

this mentioning of WILLIAM HURT has reminded me of an amusing anecdote from my childhood in NORTH CAROLINA. when I saw the title and newspaper ad** for KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, my heart skipped a beat. Going off that title and florid little ad with THE LIPS and THE WEB, my warped little 8 year old...

Re: TCM Remembers 2023

TCM has released its "TCM Remembers 2023" video tribute to film artists and technicians who died this year. Hearing Cindy Williams's voice speaking one of her memorable quotes from AMERICAN GRAFFITTI was especially moving to me and when her face appeared I did get a little teary eyed. I w...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Anyone else loving that hilariously amateurish short TCM has been running this holiday season in between the feature presentations? I am so in love with SANTA IN ANIMAL LAND. The puppets include doggie, kitty, birdie, and either a frog or fish (can't tell), plus a rather demonic looking "Mr. S...

Re: I Just Watched...

There were a quite a few extremely unpleasant posters (I am being kind in describing them) at the TCM message boards. LOOK, I'M VERY SORRY ABOUT THE TIME I KILLED CAROL LYNLEY, (in my defense, I couldn't let her off easy- she just sucks that bad in RETURN TO PEYTON PLACE .) For a while I wondered i...

Re: I Just Watched...

I still miss the TCM messageboards, and I thought they were closed for another reason. The entire website had been otherwise strip mined long before (the CFU, the games, the screensavers, and even the shop closed before the boards), and even more than that, a lot of other places got rid of the boar...

Re: I Just Watched...

Blazing Saddles (1974) It remains insanely funny from start to finish. Thank God there's some of us not ashamed to admit enjoying politically incorrect humor! When I showed this to our teen, we audibly gasped at the first N word uttered, I had completely forgotten about it & she was offended. I...
