Re: I Just Watched...

Who Killed Teddy Bear? (1965) Tubi-8/10 A discotheque hostess (Juliet Prowse) is terrorized by obscene phone calls. This is a sometimes sleazy, exploitative film but I love it. Sal Mineo plays the caller who is also a busboy in Prowse's disco, he is excellent. Elaine Stritch is Prowse's lesbian bos...

Re: MATLOCK reboot starring Kathy Bates

Why bother? Was it so difficult to come up with an original series about a lady attorney? Is just to hook on to a name that might resonate with some TV viewers? In a word, yes. The network viewership levels are so low, they look for anything that is either cheap or has name recognition. It's why yo...

Absolutely Peter Cushing. It looks like Nigel Davenport and Frank Finlay are not even in the running.

Re: TCM On Demand merged with HBO Max?

Spectrum just changed their cable packages without notice, taking TCM out of my lineup. They want 12 dollars more a month. I'm not accepting this so that's it for Turner unfortunately.

Re: Noir Alley

The end of The Big Caper was too abrupt. Roy disappears and the fist fight was by the numbers. It looked as if the writer didn't know how to end it.

Re: Planet of the Vampires (1965)

Scott and O'Bannon had to have seen Planet and It! For professional reasons, no film writers and directors admit to "borrowing" scenes and plot points. Planet is an extremely atmospheric movie that showcased Bava's 'creativity on a budget' process.

Re: The Exorcist (1973)

I saw it in a Miami movie theater when it was first released. The crowded house let out collective screams at key moments such as the pea soup vomit, the crucifix scene and so on. I was impressed by how well it was made and its power. I've never watched any sequels totally through and have zero inte...

Re: Noir Alley

James I would be surprised Clark would be taller than Smith, her height was a problem at Warners most the leading men were 5'7, Smith was close to 5'10 or5'11,I watched about 30 movies with Dane Clark I always noticed he was diminutive, probably 5'6, nothing higher. On the internet it says more but ...

Re: Noir Alley

Whiplash is okay. A better Dane Clark-Zachary Scott movie with Janis Paige in the middle is Her Kind of Man. Scott is a shady gambler. Clark is a reporter. Paige is a singer.

Re: Amicus Productions rises from the grave ...

Most likely yes. The Hammer and Amicus movies were a product of its time and staff. James and Michael Carreras, Terrence Fisher, Roy Ward Baker, Freddie Francis, and the performers, Lee, Cushing, Shelly, Beswick, Munro, Ripper, Court, etc. Reviving the names Hammer and Amicus is a corporate decision...
