Btw here Allhallows, this movie DID come to mind here and I even antipicated someone (but probably Masha) of offering it up in response. However, let's also remember here that Wayne in this film doesn't play a "crooked cop" in it. Nope, he merely and as you implied with your "Brit" comment, isn't "subtle" with his techniques while working with the British authorities in jolly old Blighty. In fact, Wayne was attempting a take on the Dirty Harry character who also wasn't a crooked cop, and which was I understand the very impetus for Wayne taking the Brannigan role in the first place because he'd come to regret turning down the Harry Callahan role a few years prior.
