I know several people who hold long grudges, not speaking to a former friend or family member for YEARS....and I found a "grudge" is more damaging for those who harbor it.
It's as if they never learn empathy or forgiveness for anyone else's "mistakes". Small.
I find that my life is better at every level if some people are not in it. I have no need to tolerate those who are beneath contempt. I do not retain any active animosity because that would be keeping them in mind and I am not about to allow them to live rent-free in my head. They are what they are and will forever be on the verge of hurting you.
To 'forgive' them would be as if forgiving a dog for being rabid and reaching out to pet it.
There are many foul things in the world. Rotting flesh, slime-covered sewer rats, Justin Bieber's singing. I do not need such things in my life.
