I have read recently of a side-effect of marijuana legalization. Police departments are having to replace some of their drug-sniffing dogs because they will indicate on the presence of marijuana. A search which uncovers both marijuana and other drugs is inadmissible in court because there is no way of telling if the dog was indicating because of the weed or because of the other drugs. Police departments have to bring in new dogs which were not trained to indicate for marijuana.
It is good to keep in mind that a dog may be man's best friend but a cat will not lead the cops to your stash.

This is pretty much true for me. I only know one of my neighbors' names, but I know the names of three of the neighborhood cats and two of the dogs. I speak with one neighbor maybe once or twice a year if we happen to both be outside at the same time. Two of the cats come to my house every day and I bought them a special water dish to use when they come over. They are like my timeshare kitties.
