Sue Lloyd The Ipcress File star has died

I just heard the sad news that British actress Sue Llyod as passed away aged 72. Sue's not to be confused with Canadian Suzanne Llyod even though both appeared in the 1962 Saint episode Luella with Roger Moore and David Henison.

Sue is probably best known globally for being Michael Caine's leading lady in The Ipcress File. That along with her tv role of Cordelia Winfield, Steve Forrest assistant in the modern day adventure series The Baron, suggested she was going to be a major star.

However, for what ever reason, that never happened. Sue did do a short film series as part of The Two Ronnies tv series. She also worked with Joan Collins in the soft porn movies The Stud and The B...h, both written by Jackie Collins.

Though I'm tempted to say she'll be best known for The Ipcress File and The Baron, in the UK Sue will probably be remembered for her role of Barbara Hunter in the soap Crossroads, in which she starred oppisite Ronald Allen, whom she would later marry in real life. (It to looked like he would also be a major movie star after appearing in Titanic film A Night To Remember) In fact She, Ronald and Annette Andre got involved in a Crossroad's love triangel. (Earlier Andre was leading lady in adventure series Randall And Hopkirk).

Sadly Sue's husband Ronald Allen died not long after Crossroad's was cancelled and her career seemed to stop after that. However, she did appear with an aging Michael Caine again in a sequel to The Ipcress File, Bullet to Beijing.

I didn't like the fact that the dvd of Bullet to Beijing, which aired on UK tv recently, edited out Sue Llloyd's cameo of Jean, a role she originally played The Ipcress File. The scene is on you tube, where she and Michael Caine share a romantic moment
