Just a quick note to comment on the promo TCM is showing lately regarding The Wizard of Oz. i have to agree with him. After being in OZ, why would Dorothy want to go back to Kansas? I'm only kidding because it's for family, but even so, he makes some funny remarks about the whole scenario.
Any agreements?

Oh, yes. I wanted Dorothy to stay in OZ. It speaks well of Dorothy's character that she was concerned about her aunt and uncle; but I wish the movie had, at least, hinted that Dorothy wasn't going to be stuck on the farm forever. In later OZ books, of course, she has more adventures and even takes Aunt Em and Uncle Henry to visit her friends. I believe that L. Frank Baum was told by his child readers, in no uncertain terms, to let Dorothy go back to OZ.
