Ollie, when I was 9 or 10 (the dinosaurs were just cresting the far hill  ), my family got to tour the Western Costume facility in Hollywood. Well, at least it was in Los Angeles somewhere...
Anyway, I remember seeing floor after floor of costumes, grouped by period, and the guide saying things like "This was worn by Olivia DeHaviland" that was worn by Susan Hayward", etc. I was so little, I was thinking 'Olivia WHO???" I would give anything to have a better memory of that day.

One of my favorites - I love how the pre-code flavor fits right into that last-century setting. There was some serious hanky-panky going on (especially in the Queen's boudoir!) and the names are just too funny.

One of my favorite lines by Queen Delores (Una Merkel)
"Put Gabrielovitsch and Sienkovitsch together and what have you got? Gabrielovitsch and Sienkovitsch! But, Danilo..."
